Location

It's located in the Atlantic sector of the Biosphere, in the limit between the provinces of Cartago and Limón.

Description

The main objective of the park is to provide protection for a large area of Tropical Rain Forest in pristine condition where there is a great diversity of plants and animals, many of them endangered.

The area is very ravine which makes it necessary to maintain the forest cover to prevent the rapid erosion caused by heavy rains.

Presents high biodiversity due to its physiographic and climatic characteristics and suitble conditions for the establishment of a wide number of flora and fauna, many of them rare.

It is also an area that has a high water production, of vital interest to supply potable water to neighboring communities and a great historical value because there is still an indigenous group with important population.

    en el parque se encuentran diferentes poblaciones indigenas entre ellas JAMEIKARI tuve el placer de visitar su reserva y son muy ordenados y con sed de conocimiento! mucho verde por ahi se siente paz en todo lo que se respira!! ojala todos lo visiten alguna vez...

    En el parque nacional Barbilla se losaliza el rio Pacuare un lugar unico por cu belleza aqui eL ICE quiere construir una represa Hidroelectrica que no solo afectaria el rio sino sus alrededores y habitantes (indigenas)por eso NO A LA REPRESA DEL PACUARE

    Me parece razonable que se ponga las probleticas que sufren los parque, para poder crear un conciencia en la poblacion o personas que visitan estas paguinas
